Recognizing the public interest related to infrastructure projects and specifically, the Lansing Municipal Airport’s development program, the Village of Lansing and the Airport through the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process intends to establish an effective community outreach program to achieve the following:

a. Provide active, and continuous public involvement and reasonable public access to information that accurately describes a proposed project and its environmental effects.

b. Ask for and consider public input on plans, proposals, alternatives, impacts, and mitigation.

c. Use public involvement techniques designed to meet the needs of different interest groups and individuals.

d. Promote an active public role to lessen potentially adverse community reaction to agency actions needed for safe, efficient aviation.

After completion of the Draft Environmental Assessment, the Village of Lansing intends to hold a public hearing. A “Notice of Public Hearing” will be published in The Times newspaper on Friday, February 17, 2012. Through the Draft Environmental Assessment and public involvement process the FAA, Illinois Department of Transportation and Village of Lansing will provide information about the proposed action, reasonable alternatives, and expected environmental effects. The Public Hearing process also incorporates a public comment period, which provides an opportunity to interested parties to submit, in writing, through the mail, fax, email or delivered in person, comments related to the proposed action.  For more information, please see the "Notice of Public Hearing" here.

Written comments will also be accepted through Wednesday, March 28, 2012.  Written comments should be addressed to Mr. John DeLaurentiis, Airport Manager, Lansing Municipal Airport, 3250 Bob Malkas Drive, Lansing, IL, 60438.  Comments may also be faxed to John DeLaurentiis at (708) 418-3862 or e-mailed to IGQcomments@cmtengr.com
